Instant Popover – Don’t Waste Your Money
Several months ago I purchased Instant Popover from Matt Callen. It looked promising, but on several occasions that I have tried to put up sticky notes on my site or create a popover for one of my websites it has failed. It’s too bad that it has been several months because I lost the chance to get my money back.
One of the big things is that the program has problems with the DocType on the webpage code. Their support wanted me to remove it saying it wasn’t necessary. In almost every forum that talks about SEO and creating valid code, having a DocType is very necessary.
Even so, I could never get Instant Popover to work with or without the DocType. Their support could never figure out the problem. I’ve been coding for years now and it is my experience now, and my opinion that there is a MUCH better solution than Instant Popover. The IPO popover worked okay in Firefox, but was completely blank in Internet Explorer. Since 60% of my website visitors use IE, I couldn’t have a blank popup. Furthermore, in Firefox, it did change some screen dynamics when you tried to move or close the popover window.
Overall, I would give this $67 application an F. It simply failed to deliver. It’s nothing against Matt Callen. It’s just a product that would not work for me… nor could I get their support to get it to work for me.
I found a website that created the exact same options I was “trying” to create with IPO, but it is 100% free. It’s at a website called Taming The Beast:

I created a popup on one of my leads sites that can view here:
You can completely customize the code, graphics, put in a form, set cookies, colors, delays, speed, position, etc. And it is Free. I wish I had found this site several months ago and saved myself $67.
